Can I share the archives with others?
These PDFs are preserved for educational and historical purposes. We kindly ask you not to share direct download links publicly. Instead, direct others to Holstonia.co so they can request access through the proper channels.

Are the PDFs copyrighted?
Yes. The materials are protected and published in partnership with the Glanville Estate and The Saltville Foundation. You may reference them with credit, but redistribution without permission is not allowed.

I found something I want to cite. How do I give proper credit?

Is my personal information or email shared with anyone? 
Never. Your email is stored securely and only used for optional site communication such as updates or legacy news. You can unsubscribe or delete your account at any time.

I’m a teacher or researcher — do I need special access? 
Nope! All accounts are free. However, if you need deeper archive access for education or scholarship, please contact us directly — we’re happy to assist.

What is Holstonia, and why was it created?
Holstonia.co is a digital preservation project dedicated to the research and legacy of Dr. Jim Glanville. It exists to make his scholarly contributions on the Holston River Valley and Appalachian history accessible to educators, researchers, and the public.
Who was Dr. Jim Glanville?
Dr. Glanville was a chemist, historian, and independent scholar whose work centered on early Southeastern U.S. history, particularly around Saltville, Virginia. His legacy includes groundbreaking research on Native American culture, early Spanish contact, and Appalachian settlement history.
Why are only 7 archives featured in the digital knowledge base?
To ensure quality, clarity, and historical integrity, an initial set of 7 key archives was selected for digital integration. These were carefully chosen based on scholarly impact, public interest, and legacy significance. More may be added over time.
Where are the rest of Jim’s archives?
Over 240 of Jim’s original documents are available for download in their original PDF format. These are preserved in their entirety for public reference and remain unaltered from their original publication.
How is this site connected to MOMA and the Saltville Foundation?
Holstonia.co is supported in collaboration with The Saltville Foundation and the Museum of the Middle Appalachians (MOMA). These institutions help ensure the integrity, funding, and long-term sustainability of Jim’s digital legacy.
Can I contribute to or help with this project?
Yes. If you’re a researcher, educator, or community historian interested in helping preserve or expand Jim’s legacy, we’d love to hear from you. Please use the contact form directly to discuss potential collaborations.
How was this website built and who maintains it?
Holstonia.co was created by Steven Taylor of TrajanStudio, who continues to lead its stewardship and archive curation. Developed in partnership with The Saltville Foundation, Deena Flinchum, and Dan Kegley, the site reflects a shared commitment to honoring Dr. Jim Glanville’s legacy. Today, Holstonia.co serves as a lasting, accessible home for Jim’s work—supported by a funded partnership rooted in preservation, truth, and public access.
